Happy Morther's Day!
Many people have the parents of Alonso Perez Toriello as Andres Perez and Maria Torillo. Many years ago, Jaime Holcombe gave different information in his submissions. He gave two siblings to Alonso, along with the different sets of parents. I was confused by Jaime Holcombe's submission, as he was the only one in the family with the Peres Toriello surname. After much research I discovered that the father that Jaime Holcombe said was Alonso's father had Portuguese ancestors with the surname Perestoriello, which had many explorers and sailors in the family. A few generations before Portugal, they resided in Italy, and the surname was Pallestrelli. Jaime Holcombe had not known about the father's ancestor's Perestrello connection. Was it just a coincidence, or was Jaime Holcombe correct in this case?
Until I see the evidence, I will not have parents listed for Alonso Perez Toriello, and have notes showing that there are two lines of thought as to his parents.
At this time, I seem to be the only genealogist that still has Jaime Holcombe's claim as Alonso's possible parents. There must be some evidence that Alonso's parents are Andres Perez and Maria Torillo other than that the two surnames conveniently combine to make Alonso's surname. I hope someone would just show me the evidence for these claims so that the identification is finally settled.
Thank you,
