I am trying to find when Don Fernando De La Campa y Cos traveled by ship to Nuevo Espana (Mexico). I know that he shows up in the records when in 1693 he was recommended by the Alcalde of Sombrerete Antonio Guiterrez De Teran to protect Sombrerete.
Don Fernando was born in Burgos, Spain in 1676 so to show up in Sombrerete in 1693 makes him 17 years old. But so far that is the earliest he is mentioned.
He would have had to travel by ship sometime in 1693 or before.
So in the Pars website:
http://www.archivesportaleurope.net/web/guest
I do a search for "Pasajeros" then I filter by years on the left side. I get a long list of documents to choose from. Then those documents have lists of passenger names on each Navio that traveled to Nuevo Espana (Mexico).
Many of those names don't appear on a description that you can just look up in search. You have to read the list of names within the document.
El nombre de Don Fernando creo que esta enterrado en uno de esos listas y se tiene que leer lo para ver si sale.
To Find Don Fernando Campa y
Search techniques:
In the Pars website I would try searching for:
"Pasajero" gives me a list of individual names of passengers that traveled on the Pasajero de Indias (Americas).
"Pasajeros" with an "s" gives me lists of ships that include passengers lists. These are nice to look at because it starts out with name of the ship and the Capitan. Then it has a list of names of people on the ship and sometimes with a brief description of each person where they are going.
Now since I want to look for Don Fernando De La Campa y Cos, who is from Burgos.
I had the idea of doing a search for:
"Pasajeros Burgos" So it gives me lists of people that were from Burgos that traveled to the Americas.
For example I searched for "pasajero burgos" and got list of people who were from Burgos. I filtered by years. This one is a document of 86 pages and it is people that went to Zacatecas in the year 1682. Here is the first page where it says they were to travel on the "Nuestra Senora De La Soledad" ship in the year 1682:
