Does anyone know what's the meaning of the exclamation point next to a name? For example one of the baptism records reads as follows: "...hijo legitimo de Dn Mig! Gallegos...
It's probably not an exclamation point, it's most likely an abbreviation
for Miguel. Not seeing the document I can't say for sure, but if you want
to send the link, I bet it's an abbreviation that was commonly used at the
time.

It's not an explanation point, it's a "l" superscript "Migl." Is really Miguel. It's shorthand script the priest used.
