I am new to this site, and am so excited to become a part of it! I have been researching my family history since December 2008. I have completed alot on my side of the family, but have come to a brick wall in researching my husbands family.
Jose R Rodriguez was born September 2, 1888. my research up to now states that he was born in Calvillo, Aguascalientes, Mexico. I do not know who his parents were. In 1912, he married Maria Luna b. May 10, 1891 in Mexico. They immigrated to the US between 1912 and 1920, as they are on the 1920 Census in Kansas. Jose died on September 17, 1979 in Deerfield, Kansas. Maria died November 17, 1956 in Lakin, Kansas.
This is all the info i have at the moment. Can't wait to dig deeper into the research and hopefully one day i can visit these beautiful places!

SSDI (Social Security Death Index) shows a Joe Rodriguez born Sept 2, 1888, died Sept 1979, last residence was Garden City, Finney, Kansas. If this is the right person, you can write for a copy of his Social Security application. The charge is $27 if you have the Social Security number (which is on the website - ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com). Once you find his name, click on the "SS-5 letter" next to the name and it will create a letter with everything filled in, you just need to print it and send in the money. I've had a couple done and it takes 4-8 weeks.
Social Security numbers were issued to citizens AND non citizens - you needed a number in order to get a job.

Have you looked for their border crossings into the United States? There might be information as to the last place of residence, which might indicate the locality where they were married and or had children. The record should indicate age, place of birth, traveling companions, who they are to going to meet in the USA and, where they are traveling too, etc. You might want to look if you have not done so previously. He might have military records for World War One (don't discard that possibility). The 1920 census should indicate when they entered the United States for the first time; look for the border crossing in the indicated year as well as other crossings.
Good luck!

Welcome Jesse, this is good, one of my areas of expertise is Calvillo. You might want to look for your ancestor's baptismal record you can goto www.familysearchlabs.org
I'm also related to the Gallardo family, there is so much history. The SpanishGallardo were important in the history of Aguascalientes and nearby statesof Jalisco and Guanajuato, the average alteno will at least have one connectionto the Gallardo.
