I was wondering if somebody could shed some light on the several Guadalupe's
in the state of Zacatecas? In our family records, my great-great
grandfather's family comes from Guadalupe, Zacatecas. However, I have only
found vital records in familysearch.org from the parish of Nuestra Senora de
Guadalupe, in the city (or municipality?) of Zacatecas, ZAC. I think there
is also a town (suburb?) of Zacatecas called Guadalupe, and maybe one in
Villanueva as well?
So if my ancestors said they were from Guadalupe, Zacatecas, is that
actually the city of Zacatecas? Was the town of Guadalupe centered around
the parish of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe maybe?
On another note, I think my great-great grandfather's wife was originally
from Tepetongo, ZAC. Is it likely my great-great grandfather was also from
Tepetongo? I can't find his birth records in Guadalupe or Zacatecas. In
general, was there a lot of movement between Tepetongo/Jerez and
Zacatecas/Guadalupe/Villanueva in the mid 1800s?
