My ggggrandfather was named Juan Jose Acevedo or (de Asevedo), he had
3 sons, Jose Toribio born @ 1773, Jose Maria born @ 1785, and Bernardo born
about 1787, I found all 3 marriage records for them but could not find their birth
records, it appears they were probably all born in Tepetongo, Zacatecas.
Juan Jose (their father) was married to Maria Manuela de la Vega.
If anyone out there has any information that maybe would help me find out more I
would be very gratedful.
Thank you,
Aida Garralda
Books on Colotlan
For those that are researching on Colotlan, I have in my library a book
"Compendio de la historia de Colotlan" compilador: Prof. Felipe Valdez
Pacheco, 1591-2000
It contains mostly history of the foundation of Colotlan, the first
inhabitants, first Spanish Villa, Colonial, Independence, Cristiada,
Revolution and modern times.
It has a limited genealogy but it contains a list of the indios de Tlaxcala
they came to live among the chichimecas in 1591. List of government
authorities from 1591-1998, list of Religious individuals 1589-2000, and
list of some known people that die in the 1900's. and some biography of
some individuals.
If any one want for me to look for some thing special I will be happy to
look it up and share the information.

Hi Silvia,
Thank you for your offer to look in the book on Colotlan. I'm interested in finding information on 6 people (3 couples), ancestors of mine, who lived there around 1740. They are:
Agustin Enriquez and Maria Josefa de la Torre (or del Castillo)
Alejandro Marquez de los Olivos y Agustina (or Agueda) de Escobedo
Jose de la Trinidad Flores and María Gertrudis de Ortega
Any information on them will be very appreciated.

Agustin Enriquez in Colotlan
Hector:
I too am descendant from Agustin Enriquez and Maria Josepha del Castillo through their son Juan Joseph and his wife Josefa Antonia Madera:
http://www.ramosfamily.org/nextgen/getperson.php?personID=I1375
My paternal grandmother's surnames were Gutierrez Enriquez.
I would love to get a copy of the book that Silvia mentions. It seems the author, who is an ex-mayor of Colotlan, is still active academically... perhaps we can track him down. I would also like to get a copy of a couple of other Colotlan history books. One is by Nicolas Valdes Huerta and Jean Meyer and another by Renato Haro Ortega and Bernardo Carlos Casas.

I've tried to find the books by these authors without success. If anyone knows where to get them, please let us know.
regaqrds,

Marquez de los Olivos from Colotlan, Jalisco
Hi Angie,
I have identified the 2 couples that you mentioned, but none seems to be the parents of my Alejandro Marquez de los Olivos, unless Alejandro was born before the first date of parish records kept in Colotlan.
I have the following parents for the first couple:
Jose Marquez de los Olivos (son of Miguel Marquez de los Olivos y Luisa de Figueroa) and Gertrudis Rincon de Ortega, married in Cienega de Mata on 16th December, 1671.
Bartolome Sanchez and Josefa Cabañez.
Jose de la Trinidad Flores and Gertrudis de Ortega were mestizos. In all but one of the entries for their children Jose de la Trinidad appears only with that name, without "Flores". If you find something on them, please let me know.
Regards,
Hector
