I have watched with interest the membership activity in genetic testing and can only reiterate the caution some members have voiced. Know what you are looking for and be sure the testing firm has a good reputation. I would recommend those that are interested, to go to their library and get a copy of "The Real Eve" by Stephen Oppenheimer. He provides a comprehensive analysis of the genetic history of "modern man" and his journeys as he populated the world. He includes genetic trees and tables, which if you have some data already may be of some help. Some of the information in the book may surprise you.

The real eve documentary
The Real Eve" by Stephen Oppenheimer was produced by the Discovery Channel and you can see the 1.5 hr segment here:

I'm sure the book has more info but it's a quick fix on human migration...

Hi Judy, my Mother's family and my in-laws were also from the area of
Jalostotitlan, Jalisco. In fact, so far I have traced my Mother's father back
to 1712. All the Gutierrez clan from around Jalos and Arandas, Jalisco. My
oldest son, tested with 23&Me, he test 92% European and 8% Asian. His Maternal
Haplogroup is A2. His Paternal Haplogroup is R1b1b2a1a2C. The R1b1b2 is the
most common haplogroup in western Europe. How did you trace your ancestry to
Andalucia? Please let me know as I'm still searching also. Let's keep in
touch.

Ann,
R1b1b2a1a2C is also known as SRY2627+ it is found mostly in Spain and
France. It is a descendant of L176.2+. There is a combined FamilyTreeDNA
project for both of those subclades at
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/R1b1c6/default.aspx?section=ycolori…
You can transfer your sons 23andme results to FamilyTreeDNA in order to
join the project. That would also give you a chance to join the Mexico DNA
project at http://garyfelix.tripod.com/~GaryFelix/index63.htm (Takes a long
time to load)
There is a map of the frequency of subclade R1b1b2a1a2C SRY2627+ in Spain
at http://www.iberianroots.com/Images/spain%20R-SRY2627%20percent.png
You can see how all of the R1b subclades relate to each other at
http://www.eupedia.com/europe/Haplogroup_R1b_Y-DNA.shtml#R1b-subclades

Judy,
If you get a Deep Clade test at FamilyTreeDNA for your son you will be able
to see what his subclade is. It can be ordered by clicking on the tab Order
an Upgrade. Once you find the subclade you can join a subclade project in
FamilyTreeDNA. You can see a list of subclades and how they relate to each
other at
http://www.eupedia.com/europe/Haplogroup_R1b_Y-DNA.shtml#R1b-subclades
