Hi Everyone,
Lopez de la Cerda came up in a previous email and I want to ask if anyone
in the NR forum has any information on the grandparents of Phelipe Lopez De
La Serda Marin , who married Juan Perez de Frias Flores on May 29 1749
(vecinos de Rio Chico, Teocaltiche). I have Phelipe's parents listed as
Matheo Lopez de la Serda and Jacinta Marin.
Does anyone have information on Matheo and Jacinta's lineage?
Thanks and I look forward to your response.
Regards,
Juan Aguayo
Agustin Lopez de la Cerda
Does anyone know whether Bill Figueroa is still part of this group? I was researching a recent find where my ancestors are from this family line, specifically Simona Lopes de la Cerda and Nicolas Martin. I'd like to find Bill's sources to keep on researching this family line. Thank you.

Juan, Alice & Jose,

Josepha married Isidro Martin de Sotomayor (date unknown) and Simona married Nicolas Martin de Sotomayor (17 Sep 1667) in Teocaltiche. Nicolas, Isidro and Maria were brothers and sister. As far as I know, only the children of Agustin and Maria carried the surname Lopez de la Cerda in Teocaltiche and Aguascalientes.

Lopez de la Cerda
For my fellow genealogists:
Maria de Islas y Sotomayor indicated in her will dated 8 Feb 1713 that she and her late husband Agustin Lopez de la Cerda had five children (Felix Juan el mayor, Juan el menor, Agustina, Esteban and Antonio) and that they all married. Her testament can be accessed online in the Aguascalientes archives.
Felix Juan el mayor age 29 married 6 Feb 1701 AGS to Elvira Lopez Muñoz (aka Elvira de Cobos), hija legitima de Miguel de Cobos and Teresa Lopes Muños. I stress hija legitima because Elvira’s mother was deceased and her father was a priest when Elvira married. On that same day in AGS Juan el menor age 27 married Teresa Lopez Muñoz (aka Teresa de Cobos), sister of Elvira. When the brothers provided their marriage information on January 17 and 18, 1701, one of their witnesses was Francisco Martin de Sotomayor, their primo hermano.
It appears that 1701 was a busy year for the Lopez de la Cerda family. On 20 Dec 1701 the two younger brothers also gave information to marry. Esteban age 22 planned to marry Josepha Ramirez de Hermosillo. Antonio age 21 wanted to marry her sister Rosa Maria Ramirez de Hermosillo. Both women were born and raised in Jalostotitlan and were the daughters of Nicolas Ramirez de Hermosillo (deceased) and Francisca Gutierrez de Barba. I assume they did marry although I do not have the actual marriage dates.
Much of this data, including their ages, is available in the 1699-1719 Marriage Information records of Cienega de Mata, Jalisco (Film 640168). You can find them on Family Search. I'm reading off of an old Family Group Sheet and do not have internet links to give you.
So we have the two older brothers marrying sisters, as well as the two younger brothers marrying sisters. As for the 5 Feb 1713 marriage of Juan to Anna Maria Muñoz de la Barba, I haven’t seen the document and assume it is his second marriage. And I wonder who that Antonio could be who married Josepha Alonso de los Hinojos in 1695. These are not my direct ancestors, so I don’t have extensive data. For that reason I do not have anything on Agustina.
Mary Lou
Start with Image 117 in Film 640168. The four MI documents are very close to each other.
Correction: Maria's 8 Feb 1713 will lists six children: Felix, Juan el mayor, Juan el menor, Agustina, Esteban and Antonio. I missed a comma. So, I don't know which Juan married Teresa Lopez Muñoz.
Lopez de la Cerda
It is obvious I am computer illiterate. I wanted to add my comments in this group. But somehow started a new string. Mea culpa. I and I hope you will continue to add comments here and ignore the one I started.

By the way Juan, Do you have any further information about Juana Pérez de Frías? I have just found the names of her parents: Fabián Pérez de Frías and Rosa Flores, but haven't been able to find anything else.
Thanks in advance =D

I'm sorry, I'm coming in late into the conversation and don't know what was
said before. My 5ggmo is Maria Catharina Perez de Frias. She was baptized
21 May 1721 in Mexticacan. She had a brother, Luiz, md to Juana Josepha
Placencia, md 31 Jul 1741 in Nochistlan. Their parents were Gregorio Perez
de Frias (or Islas), and Magdalena Yanez, md 18 Jan, 1712 in Nochistlan.
Does this help?

Alicia,
I think it is because people in Mexico heard that French had "settled"
there, not knowing the true history. They equate blue eyes only with the
"recent" foreigners and not their own Spanish ancestors.
My father could have killed me when we stopped for lunch and gas in a small
village back in the 1960s on our way to Jerez. I noticed that many of the
people there were dark, but had blue eyes. I very impertently asked the
hojos azules?" (God, what a dumb question, but I was so curious, and young
and dumb). He just smiled and said, "los franceses vinieron aqui". My
father dressed me up and down for that, but I got an answer that satifsfied
me at the time. Now I know better.

are descended from the French. I hear it all the time and I've even

period in which the French occupied Mexico and that it's simply not possible

Agustin Lopez de la Cerda and Lucía Rodríguez de Victoria were married
(veiled) 13 Nov 1635 in San Luis Potosi. He is the first Lopez de la Cerda
in my database. His son Agustin and daughters Josepha and Simona lived in

Hello Bill,
Thanks so much for your offer to help. I'm not sure if we're on the same track, as my De la Serda can only be traced back to Jose Manuel de la Serda who married Ma Guadalupe Lisalde 11/13/1767, in Lampazaos de Naranjo, Nuevo Leon. I'd be thrilled if indeed, we were researching the same ancestors. Thanks again. Alice

Bill, Alice & Jose,
I'm glad someone responded to my email from February and hopefully we can
collaborate on the Lopez de la Serda name. I have the following:
Juan Manuel Lopez de Cerda casado con Maria Guadalupe Farfan on April 25,
1792 in Teocaltiche Jalisco. Juan Manuel was babtized June 28, 1750 in
Teocaltiche, Jalisco (nacio en Rio Chico, Jalisco) and his parents are
listed as Phelipe Lopez and Juana Perez.
I have Phelipe Lopez de la Serda casado con Juana Perez de Frias on May 21,
1749 in Teocaltiche, Jalisco (vecinos de Rio Chico, Jalisco) and their
parents are listed as: Matheo Lopez de la Serda and Jacinta Marin and
Fabian Perez de Frias (difunto) and Rosa Flores, respectively.
My trail for the Lopez de la Serda, Marin, Perez de Frias, and Flores ends
here. Do you guys have anymore info on these people?
Bill thanks for your information, maybe I can tie Phelipe Lopez de Serda to
the Agustin, Josepha or Simona as you have listed in your response.

Lopez de la Serda
Juan, Alice & Jose,
Phelipe Lopez de la Cerda had a sister named Juana Lopez de la Cerda, who was baptized 14 Jun 1711 in Teocaltiche. I have not been able to determine if their father Matheo Lopez de la Cerda (married to Jacinta Marin) is related to Agustín Lopez de la Cerda, but will continue searching all available records. In case you're interested, Juana Lopez de la Cerda married Francisco de Pedroza 28 Apr 1745 in Teocaltiche, where they had four sons baptized: Juan Gregorio (1746), Ignacio Ventura (1748), Joseph Juachin Mariano (1750) and Juan Antonio de la Cruz Pedroza (1753).
Agustin Lopez de la Cerda married Lucia Rodriguez de Victoria 13 Nov 1635 in San Luis Potosi. Agustin's parents were Francisco Lopez and Francisca de los Angeles, and Lucia's parents were Antonio Rodriguez and Catalina de Victoria. Antonio and Catalina were married 01 Jun 1601 in Patzcuaro, Mich.
Agustin Lopez de la Cerda had a brother named Miguel Lopez de la Cerda, who married Maria Magdalena Lozano 15 Feb 1635 in Aguascalientes. Miguel was buried in Aguascalientes 29 Oct 1666. In her final will Magdalena Lozano declared that they had no children, so that line ends there. Magdalena Lozano died less than a month later (23 Nov 1666) and was buried in Aguascalientes.
I have identified five children of Agustin Lopez de la Cerda and Maria de Isla y Sotomayor: Juan Felix (el menor), Juan (el mayor), Agustina, Esteban and Antonio.
- Juan Felix married Theresa de Cobos 6 Feb 1701 in Aguascalientes. They had at least five children: Maria Theresa, Maria, Christobal, Maria Theresa de los Dolores and Michaela Lopez de la Cerda, all born between 1701-1722.
- Juan married Anna Maria Muñoz de la Barba 5 Feb 1713 in Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jal. I have identified three children: Agustin (b.1714), Santiago (b. ca1717) and Maria Vicenta Lopez de la Cerda (b. not known) all born at Cienega de Mata.
- Agustina and Esteban died young and were never married.
- Antonio who married Josepha Alonso de los Hinojos 12 Oct 1695 in Aguascalientes. They had at least five children: Antonia Lorenza, Onofre, Balthazar Manuel, Antonio Joseph and Maria Gertrudis Lopez de la Cerda, all born between 1700-1712.
Since Juana Lopez de la Cerda was born in Teocaltiche in 1711 she is in the same generation with the grandchildren of Agustin Lopez de la Cerda and Maria de Isla y Sotomayor (see above). Therefore, her parents Matheo Lopez de la Cerda and Jacinta Marin are in the same generation with Juan Felix, Juan, Agustina, Esteban and Antonio Lopez de la Cerda, sons of Agustin Lopez de la Cerda and Maria de Isla y Sotomayor. But Maria de Isla y Sotomayor listed her children in her final will and testament before she died in 1716, and she did not mention a son named Matheo. Back to the drawing board.
Saludos,
BILL FIGUEROA

Hey Bill,
Thanks a lot for such a thorough contribution. I'll try to do some further investigation to determine our possible linkage. =D

Bill,
Thanks so much for your information, unfortunately at this point in time I personally don't find a connection to my De la Serda's. I'll keep your info and and perhaps with further research on my part there will be a connection. Thanks again. Alice

BILL FIGUEROA

Saludos,

Edgar,

estaba checando algunos datos

HOLA BILL
UN CORDIAL SALUDO
UNA PREGUNTA
COMO PUEDO DEMOSTRAR QUIENES ERAN LOS PADRES DE ANTONIO LOPEZ DE LA CERDA ESPOSO DE JOSEPHA ALONSO DE LOS HINOJOS?
TENGO DOCUMENTADO QUE LORENZA LOPEZ DELA SERDA VIUDA DE DIEGO DELGADO CASADA CON IGNACIO RUIZ EN EL DISPENSA SE MENCIONAN LOS PADRES DE LORENZA QUE SON ANTONIO LOPEZ DE LA SERDA Y JOSEPHA ALONSO DE LOS HINOJOS.Y EN EL MATRIMONIO DE ESTA ULTIMA PAREJA SOLAMENTE SE MENCIONAN LOS PADRES DE JOSEPHA ALONSO DE LOS HINOJOS LOS DE ANTONIO DICE QUE SE DESCONOCEN LOS PADRES .
EXISTEN ALGUN DOCUMENTO DONDE PUEDA DEMOSTRAR QUIENES ERAN SUS PADRES ?
UNA DISPENSA O UN TESTAMENTO?
TE LO AGRADECERIA MUCHO
QUE TENGAS UN BUEN DIA
SALUDOS
Agustin dela Cerda
Does anyone know whether Bill Figueroa is still part of this group? I was researching a recent find where my ancestors are from this family line, specifically Simona Lopes de la Cerda and Nicolas Martin. I'd like to find Bill's sources to keep on researching this family line. Thank you.
