I began researching my ancestry at the Family History Center of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I know all my grandparents names and birthdates. But I was interested in tracking my paternal grandfather and also knew the name of my great grandfather which helped.
I found my grandfather's baptismo in the archives and instantly gave the names of his parents and grandparents.
When I did my research, I would spend Wednesday nights and Saturdays scrolling through rolls of films and backtracked to around the 1720's.
But that was back in the 90's when there was no internet and no website like this to meet other people to share information.
I have not done any more scrolling through films lately.
I also want to mention, I have a loved one that worked in the Archives of Zacatecas, Mexico. She told me that some people would steal some of the books or rip out pages.
Watch out for treasure or relic hunters
