Is there anyone in the group who can do a Mexican Border Crossing record search for me and send me the underlying information and perhaps image for the following person:
LEONIDAS PINEDO
Crossed at Brownsville Municipal Airport
Here is what is in the Border Crossing Records for a Leonidas Pinedo. He was 5 ft 8 in, med. complexion, black hair, brown eyes, and his occupation was some kind of "officer"? It looks like he went to Washington, DC. He was from a place in Honduras called "Pequcapalpa". I don't know where to send a copy of the original.

I was able to locate the Mexican Border Crossings on Ancestry.com by clicking on "our latest additions" View All. Then, near the bottom of the next page, I clicked on "view all recent record additions. Like all their information, you can type in a name and view a list with some dates, but once you click on "view record," they ask you to subscribe. So, you can't see the actual records unless you are a paid subsriber. It is too bad the LDS church does not get Ancestry.com anymore.
I was able to find several of what I believe are my ancestors. I still would like to see the actual record, though, before I say it's them for sure.
How can I get access to the Border Crossing?? Please let me know.
Thank you Mary

Hi Yolanda, I have a limited subscription and I pay $119. a year. The Family History Centers no longer have access to Ancestry.com but I was told if you have a library card you can log on at any public library with no charge.
I knew when my Castanon/Caldera family came stateside but was surpised to see they crossed the border more than once. It appears they went across at least 3 times over a 3 year period, that was a surprise. I was also surprised when it said Gr-grandpa Vicente Castanon only had $24. to his name which means they didn't trust the boarder guards and hid their money.! I was told each family group was charged $5. to be deloused!
I had not seen these records before so I thank the group member for making me aware of it being online now.

Since the 1800's the Department of Commerce, and later the Immigration and
Naturalization Service (INS), were required by Congress to to generate and
maintain records of all alien entrants into the US.
These historical records were filmed by INS (in 1956?) and transferred to
the U. S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and were
transferred to the National Archives on microfilm. Indexes of these records
are kept by Port of Arrival (land or sea)and available for access on the
Internet through their website: http://www.archives.gov
The specific microfilms can be viewed (or ordered by email purchase) at
various NARA regional offices located throughout the US.
I personally find the one at Naguna Niguel, California, to have convenient
visiting hours, --- and their holdings easy to access and photograph on
site.

Since the 1800's the Department of Commerce, and later the Immigration and

and maintain records on every alien entrant into the U.S. The records were
filmed (in 1956?) by the INS and later transfered to the National Archives

These microfilms are stored and made available for research by the U. S.
National Archives and Records Administration, an it can be reached at http://www.archives.gov
For those who are interested in locating records of specific individual
entrant(s) from Mexico, you can access the 'Mexican Border Crossing Record'
at http://www.archives.gov/genealogy/immigration/border-mexico.html ---
for a listing of entry ports and dates covered.
The records are indexed by Port of Entry and their microfilms can be viewed
(or available for purchase) at various NARA Regional Offices throughout the
US. Their website above lists their locations.

Hi...since the post, I have been looking at the ONLINE US Mexico Border
Crossing Records...and I paid nothing! I have tons of family from my dad's side
of the family...including my dad....however, I have not found anything from
my mom's side of the family (Zacatecas).
Thanks for giving us this heads up...I almost feel like I have traveled back
in time...and the ancestors are guiding me through you all.

For the worldwide delux it's 29.95 per month I think....or you're suppose to
save if you pay for a whole year.
I'd rather pay month to month because I don't know when I'd stop needing it.
Peggy,

Leonidas Pinedo
Is there anyone in the group who can do a Mexican Border Crossing record search for me and send me the underlying information and perhaps image for the following person:
LEONIDAS PINEDO
Crossed at Brownsville Municipal Airport
Thanks.
Leonidas Pinedo
Here is what is in the Border Crossing Records for a Leonidas Pinedo. He was 5 ft 8 in, med. complexion, black hair, brown eyes, and his occupation was some kind of "officer"? It looks like he went to Washington, DC. He was from a place in Honduras called "Pequcapalpa". I don't know where to send a copy of the original.

LEONIDAS PINEDO
Crossed at Brownsville Municipal Airport
Thanks.
Leonidas Pinedo
I'll bet it's Tegucigalpa! I had a friend from there. Marge:)

U.S. Mexican Border Crossings

US-Mexico Border Crossing Records ONLINE
Since the 1800's the Department of Commerce, and later the Immigration and
Naturalization Service (INS), were required by Congress to to generate and
maintain records of all alien entrants into the US.
These historical records were filmed by INS (in 1956?) and transferred to
the U. S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and were
transferred to the National Archives on microfilm. Indexes of these records
are kept by Port of Arrival (land or sea)and available for access on the
Internet through their website: http://www.archives.gov
In the case of those who are interested in researching for the existance of
record(s) on any particular entrant from Mexico, you may access their
"Mexican Crossing Records" holdings at
http://www.archives.gov/genealogy/immigration/border-mexico.html
The specific microfilms can be viewed (or ordered by email purchase) at
various NARA regional offices located throughout the US.
I personally find the one at Naguna Niguel, California, to have convenient
visiting hours, --- and their holdings easy to access and photograph on
site.

US-Mexico Border Crossing Records ONLINE
Hi...since the post, I have been looking at the ONLINE US Mexico Border
Crossing Records...and I paid nothing! I have tons of family from my dad's side
of the family...including my dad....however, I have not found anything from
my mom's side of the family (Zacatecas).
Thanks for giving us this heads up...I almost feel like I have traveled back
in time...and the ancestors are guiding me through you all.

US-Mexico Border Crossing Records ONLINE
I have a free trial until 5/6...but I'm planning on joining since the Border
Crossing thing came up....
For the worldwide delux it's 29.95 per month I think....or you're suppose to
save if you pay for a whole year.
I'd rather pay month to month because I don't know when I'd stop needing it.

Peggy,
Do you have access to Ancestry at home or is there a place you visit?
Does anyone know the cost to subscribe to the site?

Do you know if these records include the Braceros or only permanent
immigration records? Thanks, Rosa
