I have a set of greats Bicente Ferrer (Ferrel) Diaz and Maria del Carmen (Carmel) Rodriguez. I see the spelling of both names going back and forth from Ferrer to Ferrel and from Carmen to Carmel. Has anyone else seen this? Here is an example of Ferrel and Carmel for the baptism of Joseph Santiago (middle record on 2nd page) https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939N-BPXL-D?i=374&personaUr…
Spelling Variants
Yes, I agree with you. Those spelling variants are common. Vicente Ferrer was a Saint from Valencia, Spain, and the names Carmen and Carmel are at times used interchangeably.
