Maria Del Refugio Ornelas was the daughter of Benito Ornelas (San Diego de Alejandria) and Ana Rita Del Carmen Gascon Barrera. Maria was married to Lugardo Fonceca and their children were born in the 1840's. Any assistance or connection would be welcome!
Lugardo Fonseca and Maria del Refugio Ornelas
Hello Evie,
Here is what I found for this couple which is also on the online program Wikitree where you can find the sources and additional information. I was hoping to connect to my Ornelas and Perez ancestors from Encarnacion de Diaz. Please let me know if you find additional information on Jose Blas Ornelas and Maria de San Juan Perez.
Best regards

The Herrera family came to Jalisco from Michoacan. I have more information on the Herrera and a strong lead that I have not had the time to follow up on because of I'm currently working on other projects. A search of Maria de Jesus Herrera and Ruperto del Refugio Herrea informacion matrimonial may lead to connecting Jose cayetano Herrera to tree that I have already compiled on Ruperto del Refugio Herrera side. Rupert's line goes back to the first Herrera in Ayo el Chico/arandas area that came from Michoacan.
Maria de Jesus Herrera is a great grand daughter of Jose Nicolas Herrera and Juana Josefa Gascon. She was married on 8/Jan/1879 arandas. Jalisco
I worked on this information many years ago when I was researching the genealogy of my first cousin Doctor Edmundo Andrade Romo.
Edmundo just published a book that has some of my research. I have not read the book yet, but his mother, my maternal aunt called me the day before yesterday to tell me that it was finally published and that the book would soon be in my hands. She warned me that the publisher made some mistakes and that a second edition is in the works to make the corrections. This is his fathers branch whose family was from Arandas/Ayo el Chico.
I have more info

Nicolas Alvarez del Castillo & Tomasa de Zepeda
I was looking through old postings and I chanced upon this one, which mentions the following pair:
Nicolas Alvarez del Castillo & Tomasa de Zepeda y Morfin de Liebana
In the Alvarez del Castillo chapter of his book, Retoños de España en la Nueva Galicia, Mariano Gonzalez Leal states that Nicolas Alvarez del Castillo, “Hizo información matrimonial en Chilchota el 5 de agosto de 1705 para casar con doña Tomasa de Zepeda y Mofrin de Liébana, hija de don Francisco y de doña Anna.”
I have searched the Chilchota relevant films and I can’t locate it. Can someone please direct me to it?
Thank you.

Your research is amazing!
Gascón-de Rivas
I was looking into the Gascón-Rivas lines and I found Joseph Miguel Gascón’s burial record way over in Tamaulipas! It begins on the bottom right hand side of image 109 and continues on the following image. I am confidant it’s him because it mentions his late spouse, María Rita Bartola de Rivas. It also adds that he was a “Mtro de escuela q. fue en la Villa de Camargo”. So, I am guessing he taught in what is now modern day Ciudad Camargo, Tamaulipas, México. His cause of death was tabardillo, which I think means typhus.
Francisco Santaella and Beatriz Torres
Almost three years ago, I wrote in this thread:
“The conquistadors wife, Isabel Perez is the daughter of Francisco Santella and his wife who remains unnamed, but was the daughter of Cristobal Castillo ( aka Torres ) and Leonor Perez”,
But thanks to Manny, we now have Francisco Santaella’s wife’s name. It is “Beatriz Torres.” We also now know that Beatriz had a brother named “Diego Castillo” who was a miner in Fresnillo, Zacatecas. These two are the only named children of Cristobal Castillo and Leonor Perez (born in Sevilla, Spain). Previously I had only had the information that they had “only one daughter.” Now we know they also had a son.
Here is the link to Manny’s discovery: http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/24124
