Hello,
I just found a marriage dispensation for Pedro de Chavez Banuelos and Agueda del Rio (El Sagrario, Zacatecas, Zac. 11 nov 1681) SOURCE: fILM # 168682 (Ordenes 1689-1694-Image 609-613/626). The link to the images is:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18378-39213-27?cc=1874591&wc…
I read already the document several times and the problem is that all the witnesses gave a different explanation on how the bride and the groom were connected. Initially the level of consanguinity was on 4 degree and at the end was given for 3 to 4 degree (because of the conflict on the testimony). All of them declared that Agueda del Rio was the grand-daughter of Juan del Campo (married to Angela del Rio). Based on the marriage information, I know this:
1. JUAN DE GAMBOA AND LEONOR ORTIZ DE VILLALOBOS
Child
2. Juana de Gamboa (husband Juan de la torre)
Child
3. Juan del Campo (wife Angela del Rio)
Child
4. Juana del Rio (or de Gamboa) (Husband Miguel de Olague)
Child
5. Agueda del Rio (BRIDE)
------------------------------------------------
ACCORDING TO THE WITNESSES THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT EXPLANATIONS TO THE GROOM'S ANCESTRY
OPTION A
1. JUAN DE GAMBOA AND LEONOR ORTIZ DE VILLALOBOS
Child
2. Quiteria de Gamboa (husband Pedro de Chavez y Banuelos)
Child
3. Pedro de Chavez y Banuelos (Unknown)
Child
4. Juan de Chavez (Wife Isabel de Soto y Almeida)
Child
5. Pedro de Chavez y Banuelos (GROOM)
--------------------------------
OR (Another explanation) OPTION B (this option is considered to be the right one by many people on-line)
1. JUAN DE GAMBOA AND LEONOR ORTIZ DE VILLALOBOS
Child
2. Quiteria de Gamboa (husband Pedro de Chavez y Banuelos)
Child
3. Juan de Chavez (Wife Isabel de Soto y Almeida)
Child
4. Pedro de Chavez y Banuelos (GROOM)
I'm inclined to believe that Pedro de Chavez y Banuelos II (son) (Unknown wife son of Quiteria de Gamboa and Pedro de Chavez I ) was the first cousin of Juan del Campo (OPTION A). I believe that because, although some of the information given by some witnesses doesn't match, the connection between Juan del Campo and Pedro de Chavez HAD TO BE if there was a son called Pedro de Chavez (VSE option A), with a connection on the maternal side. Pedro de Chavez (father) wasn't connected anyway to Juan del Campo. The connection was on the wife's line (Quiteria).
Any ideas? Am I right? Please read the dispensation it is just 8 pages long. The connection was explained on the groom's and 3 witnesses testimony.
Thanks in advance
Susana
