I am trying to identify some members of the Ruis de Esparza family.
Nicolas Ruis de Esparza and Antonia Garcia de Naba were the parents of Josepha Ruis de Esparza according to the matrimonial information for 1715/18 (image 24). Question: was he also known as Nicolas Salado?
Capn. Lope Ruis de Esparza and Dona Luiza de la Ana Ponce de Leon were the parents of Lorenzo Ruis de Esparza according to the matrimonial information for 1710 (image 88). If I read the document correctly, Lorenzo was 40 years old, and thus born about 1670 (or perhaps a little later if his age is not correct). Question: was this Lope the Lope Ruis de Esparza born in 1655? I do not find a marriage for him.
Thanks for the help.

I have the Nicolas you are talking about as Nicolas Salado who married Antonia Garsia de Nava on 12 November 1678 in Aguascalientes. The only two lines where the Salado/Esparza/Ruiz de Esparza comes from during this time period is from Agustin Salado aka Esparza/Ruiz de Esparza and Christobal Salado aka Esparza/Ruiz de Esparza.
I just looked up the marriage information on Nicolas Salado and on film 1671-1678 at the Pilot site, image 317 is Nicolas Salado, the son of Christobal Salado and Antonia Alvarado marrying Antonia Garcia de Nava, the daughter of Bartolome Garcia and Antonia de Nava.
As you can see this whole Ruiz de Esparza/Esparza/Salado thing is sooo darn confusing when I first came across it a couple years ago.
Thanks for the question.....I've been updating my notes and didn't realize I had him and had missing information as well.
Thanks for your help
By the way I just love this Pilot site.....the only site I know where I can wake up in the morning....go to the film images and "Bam" find instant information.....of course it helps to have the dates already.

Unfortunately, the information I have on the Ruis de Esparza family is not this recent.

Thank you for the reply, and the information. You confirmed my suspicion.
By the way, I am trying to make an index to the Aguascalientes matrimonial information files. I have posted the data for the 1600s (1666-1699) at
http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/18014
I am working in the 1700's now, presently on the film film for 1715/18.
The matrimonial information records are not complete, some years are missing, and they are not in chronological order, but if you find the record you need, they provide much more information than the early marriage records in most cases.

Esparza/Salado and Marriage information records
Hi George
I just finished my Marriage Information project last week on the records in Aguascalientes. It has taken me all summer to work on this project from 1666-1762. I have been trying to find my missing links and help my cousin with his. I still have a problem with one of my Gonzales lines but managed to solve 3 mysteries for my cousin....go figure.
You are so right about the films being a mess. Take for instance the film I'm looking at now.. 1692 which has 1695 in it and the 1692 has months that are not in order.
For people who are researching Teocaltiche and having a difficult time locating ancestors..... I would recommend looking at the Aguascalientes Marriage Information records. I was suprised to find sooo many Teocaltichians marrying people from Aguascalientes. I've seen people from Santa Maria de los Lagos, Asientos, Nochistlan, Jalpa, Sierra de Pinos, Jalos, San Luis Potosi and of course from Spain.
I was just having a field day with this project.

I wonder if the church in Aguascalientes was one of the major churches in the area, since so many people there are from other places. I've also noticed that sometimes you will find the matrimonial information records, but no marriage record, and you also have children for the couple.
It also suggests to me that people moved a lot.
One of the most surprising records I've found, was for someone who was from Manila in the Philipines.

Matrimonial Information
So true George
In fact I found one such case this morning of Juan Tiscareno of Juan Tiscareno and Isabel Romo de Vivar. I had their son was married to Francisca Martin del Campo but could not find their marriage date....I found them in the Matrimonial Information of 1692 (image 340). And I wasn't even looking for them...I was looking for someone else.
I don't know why, but I have always been under the impression that Aguascalientes was the Las Vegas of its time....due to the thermal hot springs. Maybe its just me....but for such a small state a lot of people have passed through there.
