earlier you mentioned to me in an email that your Dolores was born in
Guadalajara. If you feel confident of that then you need to start there,
but if you are not confident of her birth place then you need to
establish that in order to make a good beginning. do you have Dolores'
place and date of death? Maybe you'll find a death certificate that
gives you some important information. Do you know if she was a
naturalized citizen and or had a green card? If so then maybe requesting
her Naturalization/other papers will reveal a place of birth.

get yourself introduced to the Family History Center close to you
(location can be found at www.familysearch.org) so you will be able to
get some personal hands on help in your area.
