Hello,
My name is Kathleen LaPoint, and I just started this research a couple months ago. My mother was born in Wisconsin, and her parents and older siblings were born in Arandas. My files show four generations of my mothers’s ancestors, starting with my grandparents. I have a few more generations that I still need to verify; I should be able to upload those files soon.
The locations I’ve found so far in church and civil records are Arandas, Santa Maria de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno, San Miguel el Alto, Encinillas, and Unión de San Antonio.
Surnames are Magaña, Vera, Lara, Gutiérrez, Palomino, Vivanco, Villagrana, Garcia, Aguilar, Gonzalez, Hernandez, Rodriguez, Aceves, Muñoz, Horta, Espinosa, Balderrama, Moreno, Sermeño, Martin, and de Arcos.
I recently had DNA analysis performed by 23andme and have uploaded the data to familytreedna.com and GEDmatch (data are still being processed at GEDmatch).
I’ve started looking through some member files, but the images on doc and docx files aren't visible. Does anyone know why that might be?
Thank you Joseph for starting this group and to all of you for your contributions. I’m learning a lot already going the archives and looking forward to working with you.
Regards,
Kathleen
Introduction
Hello,
Thank you for accepting me. My name is Maria Castro and I'm researching my ancestors from Barranca de Santa Clara, Jalisco. I've gather mostly names from Baptism records. I'm all over the place right now but I do have some information. I haven't had time to read everything but I'm very exited. I'm sure I'll learn so much from this site specially how to use certain tools to find more information about my family. This is my link to my folder http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/MariaC2
Thanks
Maria Castro
Greetings
Hello Maria. My name is Steve Apodaca. I've been researching my family tree for a few years and many of my family lines come from around Zacoalco de Torres, (Santa Catarina, los Pozos, Atotonilco el Bajo, la Ureña, Acatlan). Right now I'm researching my father's side of the family, but I can tell you that on my mother's side, I have some ancestors that came from Barranca de Santa Clara, especifically Frias. Also, I have Castro's on my family tree. I haven't researched that line a lot but I've got as far back as Jacoba Castro who married Santos Frias on April 16, 1856. Jacoba's parents were Urcino Castro and Micaela Madrigal. Further back, my Frias ancestors are metioned to be from la Barranca, and I suspect that my Castros may be from that area, since I notice many of them there. Who knows, we may be able to connect our family trees in the future through a common ancestor, but in the meantime, I'm glad to see another person from nearby Zacoalco researching her family tree.
Also, I've noticed other members of the group who are researching ancestors in the area. Compare your tree with theirs. In my case, I already found a relationship with Gilberto Ramirez, Alessandro Vitela and Francisco Sevilla.
Saludos and good luck.
Steve.
