Hello, I am very interested in the DNA test, I just wonder what the difference in FamilyTree and Ancestry tests are. Ancestry is now $99.00 as well. My family connections are Femat, Montanez, Vivar de Romo and Pedro Perez and Justa Gonzalez from Rincon Grande, Jalisco. I would love to connect with my family. This is my first note, I hope I am doing this correctly

FamilyTreeDNA.com has lowered the price for the Family Finder test to $99.
Since there are so many of us that have at least one ancestor in common
this can be an additional tool in our research by helping each other out
with DNA matches and triangulation.
Here is a good site with an explanation of triangulation.
http://dna-explained.com/2013/06/21/triangulation-for-autosomal-dna/
You will also get to see what percentage of European, Amerindian, Asian,
Middle Eastern and African ancestry you have.
Previously the price was so high it was hard to justify spending so much on
the test. Now with the current price it might be worth it to many of you.
Here is a link where it can be ordered.
http://www.familytreedna.com/family-finder-compare.aspx
You can also order it and join the Los Altos de Jalisco DNA project at the
following site -
http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=losaltosdejalisco
The prices have also been reduced for some of the Y-DNA tests.
Saludos,
Armando

Hello Armando,
?
Do you or?anyone?else have any idea how many or what?percentage of Nuestros Ranchos members?have had any of?their
DNA tested??? It?might help me decide whether or not to proceed with the autosomal test,?as?ones?chances of finding?a?match is?limited to?their data base.???
Thanks so much,? Alice?

Hello Helen,
We have at least the Romo de Vivar line in common. We probably have more
lines in common if we were to compare our trees.
The Ancestry.com test does not have a chromosome browser and therefore
triangulation can't be done with the Ancestry.com test. Also, Ancestry.com
does not send tests to Mexico so our relatives there are unable to get an
Ancestry.com test and therefore won't show up in the list of matches with
Ancestry.com. Those are the two biggest reasons that the Familytreedna test
is a lot better.
Warm Regards,
Armando
