Well I finally had my mtDNA performed and received the results today. I can now join Gary Felix's site for the mtDNA, Amerind project. My Haplogroup is A which arose about 50,000 years ago in Central Asia. Haplogroup A was first found among the aboriginal American population. It is one of the five mitochondrial lineages found in aboriginal Americans in North and South America. I guess thanks to my mother and my mother's mother's mothers, I am truly an American.
Now that I've had myself tested, I'll have one of my brothers submit a sample for YDNA and mtDNA and wait to see what the results are.
As the woman on the Comcast commercial says when she's running after the gentleman who's jogging on the track, and she approaches him in her heels and suit to share with him her great deal with Comcast and in conclusion she says, "I'm pumped" ................that's how I feel now...........I'm pumped and excited about my Native American ancestry.
There were no high resolution matches to date, only low resolution matches, two from Mexico, one from the USA and one from England.
I'm afraid I still don't know how to interpret the table with the HVR1 differences from CRS. If anyone has any wisdom to share with respect to DNA testing results and how to read or interpret the findings or knows of literature other than what's on the website that is comprehensive, I would appreciate your assistance.

Hope to see some matches.
Diversity...and it keeps on with the additions of Swedes, Norwegians and Portuguese(Azoreans) to the Robles line and other Americans of Spanish-Mexican heritage.
Alot of ancient mixing in Espana, Mexico and the US. No superior pure group. Which is wonderful!

You're right Sylvia, what's amazing is that DNA testing takes us back to the source before cultures as we know them today were formed. It is important to honor our heritage and culture, but equally important, it gives us a broader sense of brother \ sisterhood with others as well as insight to who we "truly" are. I'm a student of Iberian \ Mexican history and one thing that always struck me was the wide diversity of cultures that poured their blood into making these countries and their inhabitants. Alicia,
If you and your brothers have the same mother, they do not need to characterized their mtDNA. Is the same yours, and also the same as your grandmother, greatgrandmother....or the sons and daughters from the female side (e.g., if your mother has a sister, her children will share your mtDNA. The analogous situation would be with the Y-chromosome. As long as their is only one father, thats all you need.

Thanks Jaime,
I realize that their mt DNA would be the same as mine, I just want to see if the outcome is the same or similar. I want to put the test to the test to see how true it is. My skepticism makes me want to double check??
Thanks again,

Hello everyone,
I would also like to share my results with the group. According to Relative
Genetics and GeneTree, my mtDNA haplogroup is K, subgroup K1. I traced my
maternal ancestor all the way back to MARIA MUÑOZ, married to JUAN GONZALEZ

So if my tree is correct, MARIA MUÑOZ' mtDNA haplogroup was K-K1 (European).

acuerdo a Relative Genetics y a GeneTree, mi haplogrupo materno es K,

Asi que si mi árbol es correcto, el haplogrupo mtDNA de MARIA MUÑOZ es K-K1

I am a direct (paternal line) descendent of Juan Gonzalez de Hermosillo and

to verify.
Have you come up with a date for the meeting in San Miguel El Alto Yet? I
am thinking of making the trip to Teocaltiche around the 6th or 7th of
August. I am hoping the meeting will be held on the second saturday in
August so I can attend. I am still in the planning stage...I am going to
have to make a decision here, pretty soon, so I can make the airline
reservations well ahead of time. Please let me know as soon as you have a
definite date set.
What's the latest on Don Mariano Gonzalez Leal "Retoños de España en La
Nueva Galicia" When will it become available? any ideas?
I remember seeing an e-mail where somebody named Jorge, from Tepa, wrote a
book about the "Casillas" and "Martin". Do you know if the book is still
available? Can you get it? I am very interested in the "Martin" part of
it.
Thank you Rick.

John, are you related to either the Casillas or Martin clans ? We are on my fathers side, who is also Gonzalez, from Tepatitlan, more specifically San Jose de Bazarte. Looking at my father's chart, I count at least 4 times that the Gonzalez line married with the Casillas and one Martin ancestor, Sostenes Martin. I recently joined Gary's (Felix) group and am waiting on my results, on both my Y and mtDNA. It's very exciting to be able to trace your ancestory back so far ! Robert Gonzalez ~
mtDNA test results
Hi Robert:
Sorry to say, but no, I am not related to either "Casillas or "Martin" I
belong to the Gonzalez de Hermosillo clan from Jalos. My Grandfather was
Gonzalez Gutierrez , born in "El Cuadrado" near Valle de Guadalupe, and my
Great Grandfather was born in "Los Portales", near Jalos. My next four
grandfathers were from Santa Ana and the rest from Jalos, all the way back
to Juan Gonzalez de Hermosillo. I am related (3rd cousin) to Santo Toribio
Romo Gonzalez through my Gutierrez line.
I am interested in the "Martin" because my wife's father, Jose de Jesus
Martinez Villalpando was from Cañadas. His father was Eugenio Martin
Valadez, hijo de Atanacio Martin. Do you have any of them in any of your
charts? I hit a brick wall with Atanacio Martin and haven't been able to go
beyond him.
I had my Y-DNA analyzed by GeneTree. I belong to Group: E M96 Subgoup
E1b1b1-M35 which is the third largest in Europe. This group originated in
Northern Africa, spread to the Middle East and back to Southern Europe all
the way back to Spain and Portugal. Later this same group crossed from
Northwestern Africa through Gibraltar into Spain. They were Berbers.
My mt-DNA is Group A-2, Native American.
I am very interested in seeing your results, we might be related! I tried
to join the Gary Felix group, but they only accept people who have their DNA
analyzed by them.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply John, very nice to meet you ! I'll be happy to share my results with you when I get them back. I participatred in a study conducted by a local college here in northern California back in the late 90's. It was before DNA research was available to the common man and was based more on the now out dated body type \ cranial studies. The woman who conducted the study said that I reminded her of the Berbers, specifically the Kabyle people, in body type and structure. I'm expecting my Y results to come back either E or J, but I know that there is danger in speculating, what we look has nothing to do with our DNA ! My mothers side of the family is Basque, so who knows what my mtDNA will be. I live in the Bay Area, Northern California, at least we are in the same state ! I'm originally from Arizona. Isn't Valle de Guadalupe just up the road from San Jose de Bazarte, I think it is ! Look forward to hearing back from you, Salud, Robert Gonzalez~
mtDNA test results
Valle de Guadalupe is a few miles South of Jalostotitlán, and just a few
miles North of Pegueros, which is the town just above San Jose de Bazarte.
I went to Elementary, Junior High and High School in San Jose. I still have
family in Northern Cal. including a brother named Robert Gonzalez, in
Stockton.
Keep in touch.

Cole,
Don't despair, some of us waited many many years for various reasons, someday you will get your chance, after all, your DNA won't change or spoil, it will remain constant until the day when you can give yourself the gift of DNA. Perhaps you can ask family for a birthday gift donation, rather than an object, a $$$ donation towards your DNA test. I only paid $99.00 for my mt DNA through Gary Felix's site, Family tree DNA.
Best to you........Alicia, ........San Jose, Calif

Hi John,
Just a couple of questions/comments regarding your posting to Robert.
My husband has Juan Gonzalez de Hermosillo married to Ana Gonzalez Florida as his 9th Great-Grandparents. This line descends via their daughter Ana Gonzalez married to Diego Sanchez-Carranza is this the same family that you noted in your posting?
Have you posted your YDNA test results to YSEARCH (www.ysearch.org) and your mtDNA test results to MitoSearch (mitosearch.org)?

mtDNA test results/Gonzalez de Hermosillo Ancestry
Hi Pat:
My descendency line is from Juan Gonzalez de Hermosillo II, Married to Ana
Gonzalez Florida II. Their son, Melchor Gonzalez de Hermosillo married to
Beatriz Gonzalez de Ruvalcaba. Juan Gonzalez de Hermosillo II was my 10th
great grandfather. I haven't followed their daughter's line (Ana Gonzalez
married to Diego Sanchez-Carranza.)
I have my DNA results posted with GeneTree.
I did find two people that were are in the same haplogroup as I am in and
were very close matches, within 2 markers. These are the two people:Carlos
Ignacio Gonzalez and Michael Gonzalez, both are Med/Semitic and found in
the Gary Felix Database.
I hope this helps.

mtDNA test results/Gonzalez de Hermosillo Ancestry
John,
You and my husband are then cousins, sharing the same Juan Gonzalez de Hermosillo and Ana Gonzalez Florida as your common ancestors. This is my husband's maternal grandfather Fernando Perez' line. Of which non of the male members of his gene pool have been YDNA tested.
beside Ana Gonzalez, the only other child I have for Juan and Ana is Catarina Gonzalez de Hermosillo married to Pedro Navarro-Gaitan. I do not have Melchor Gonzalez de Hermosillo listed.
I'll check out your DNA results on GeneTree tomorrow, as well as the two Gonzalez individuals that you noted that are on Gary Felix' Database.
Thank you!

Hello john
How are you related to SantoToribio? My grandfather is a third cousin to Santo Toribio thrice, through the gutierrez once and through the gonzalez twice. He is a 4th cousin 6 times through the romo and gonzalez.

Thanks.
PS: Are you in the Los Angeles area?

Linda,
We're sisters in spirit, what an honor to share my haplogroup with such illustrious people on this group.
I will surely go to the links section to read the chart. I've already corresponded with three of the people that are a match with my DNA and am very excited to know a little more about them.
Thanks Again,
Alicia

Alicia, I also am Haplo Group A but apparently we are not a match, boy, would that have been something to celebrate!
Not sure if you noticed in the link section go to DNA and then Indigenous DNA. It has a chart showing the migration patterns and the bands that make up each group including the one in Mexico. It's at the very end of the article but very, very interesting..

Well I finally had my mtDNA performed and received the results today. I can now
join Gary Felix's site for the mtDNA, Amerind project. My Haplogroup is A
which arose about 50,000 years ago in Central Asia. Haplogroup A was first found
among the aboriginal American population. It is one of the five mitochondrial
lineages found in aboriginal Americans in North and South America. I guess
thanks to my mother and my mother's mother's mothers, I am truly an
American.
Now that I've had myself tested, I'll have one of my brothers submit a
sample for YDNA and mtDNA and wait to see what the results are.
As the woman on the Comcast commercial says when she's running after the
gentleman who's jogging on the track, and she approaches him in her heels
and suit to share with him her great deal with Comcast and in conclusion she
says, "I'm pumped" ................that's how I feel
now...........I'm pumped and excited about my Native American ancestry.
There were no high resolution matches to date, only low resolution matches, two
from Mexico, one from the USA and one from England.
I'm afraid I still don't know how to interpret the table with the HVR1
differences from CRS. If anyone has any wisdom to share with respect to DNA
testing results and how to read or interpret the findings or knows of literature
other than what's on the website that is comprehensive, I would appreciate
your assistance.
