Hello.
My name is Angelina and as a new member I want to take this
opportunity to introduce myself. My interest in genealogy started when
my father passed away and I became painfully aware that I knew very
little of my family lineage. I was elated to find that this site
existed since the oral history that I have managed to collect all
seems to end in Jalisco in the mid to late 1800's. I am, most
definitely, an amateur and will need your assistance in my attempt to
find my lineage.
Here we go .... the surnames I'm interested in are: Chavez, Rodriguez,
Urzua, Moreno, Padilla, Munoz, Carrillo, Silva
Specifically, information on Norberto Chavez: born about 1870, since
his first child was born in Union de Guadalupe, Jalisco, I assume he
was born somewhere in Los Altos de Jalisco.
He married Basilia Rodriguez Urzua around 1892. They had a son, Blas
Chavez Rodriguez, born on Feb. 3, 1893 in Union de Guadalupe, Jalisco,
Mexico
Family lore has it that Norberto belonged to a rich family and that he
was disinherited when he married Basilia Rodriguez Urzua. - I would
appreciate any info on Basilia as well.
I'm also interested in:
Juan Moreno & Atanacia Padilla Munoz. They had a middle child, Aurelia
Moreno Padilla, born in 1901 in San Julian, Jalisco ? so I assume we
are looking for birth dates between 1870 & 1880 or a marriage around
1895 in the areas surrounding San Julian. They had several children, I
believe the oldest was also named Juan.
Antonio Santiago Silva Vargas? born around 1840's ? Tonila, Jalisco ?
he worked on the Carrillo Hacienda, near Tonila ? and had a daughter
named Statislaw (or Estanislao) Silva born between 1865-1870
Eufemio Carrillo ? born around 1860, his family owned a hacienda in or
around Tonila, Jalisco. He married a woman named Lucia between
1880-1890 - their children were Francisco, Aureliano, Jesus.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you may provide.

Welcome to the Group! It seems you have some very surnames that involve in all of our research those of the Spaniard families of Padilla, Moreno, Muñoz. I can bet my money (as long as these are from Los Altos) Which they are! That they are the "de Padilla y Dávila", Moreno de Ortega, and either Muñoz de Hermosillo or Muñoz de la Barba families! These and all our other spanish families teneded to drop part of their name over time, when it was commonly known that everyone was obviously related after 400 years of inbreeding. I would totally go after these families since they might be the ones that we have info for sure, and are commonly researched a lot. I will help you on these families as best as I can. -Daniel Méndez del Camino

Hello, my name is Jenny Tomasello (Olmos) and I'm just beginning my research into my family tree. Unfortunately I do not have much information to go on as my family lost touch with my father when I was about 2 yrs old(adopted); so if anyone has any tips to guide me in the right direction I would be very greatful =)
My father (Steven Andrew Olmos - first born) was born (3 Aug 1950) to Gil Olmos and Juanita Almeyda when Gil was 60 yrs old.
My grandfather, Gil Olmos, was born 1 Sep 1891 in Teocaltiche, Jalisco to parents Juan Olmos and Andrea Aguilera. This information I was able to find on FamilySearch.
Again, I would be extremely greatful if anyone could give me ideas on beginning my search
Thank you!
Jenny
