Howdy everyone !
There is an alternative to doing your DNA test , go to www.smgf.ort and request a free kit the company will send it to you . They need four generations on you paternal side and within 6 months you can view the result in the internet . There are other test , these thier is a cost but with discounts . If you're interested in DNA testing it's worth taking a look and deciding for yourself .

The Family Tree DNA Mexico Project is the major DNA project involving people that have roots in Mexico. See http://members.tripod.com/~GaryFelix/index63.htm. This group should be considered a complement to the individual surname projects. I encourage all Hispanics to participate since participation in a group does not preclude participation in another.> > These DNA studies are a part of the ongoing studies to determine where all of our ancestors have traveled from. Alternative to Discounts for DNA tests
What you say is true. SMGF does the DNA test at no charge. The
catch is that they don't send you any results. It may take a year
(give or take a year or two) to see the results on their website.
For serious researchers who may want results more quickly, who are
looking for definite connections, or who have questions about family
lines, using one of the DNA testing facilities such as FamilyTreeDNA
is a better option.
You can test at SMGF if you have tested at another facility. That is
a good way to compare both facilities results for your research.
My SMGF results were sent in a year ago and still have not been
posted. Some people have had partial results posted.
SMGF is using the free tests for it's own research. You will have to
sign a waiver stating you agree they can use your results and that
there is the possibility that they may never be posted for you to
find. If they don't need your "type" of DNA for their research, they
won't use it.
If you are serious about using DNA in your genealogical research
you'll have to pay for the tests. You won't be satisfied with only
the SMGF test results, if you get any.
