I am looking for Fernando De La Campa y Cos who supposedly was in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico in 1693. He was born in Burgos, Spain in 1676.
At 1693 that would make him 17 years old and I haven't ran across any documents to mention him to see what he was doing. I know that his older brother Antonio De La Campa y Cos was a Capitan of the District of Sombrerete in 1675. By 1693, he could have been a General.
I am wondering if Fernando De La Campa y Cos was a soldier in the company of his older Antonio De La Campa y Cos to learn and take over when he got older.
That is why I want to find a registry of the military in the region if Fernando De La Campa y Cos is on that list. My guess he would be under the command of his older brother.
Not as far I know
As far as I know there is no such list. I have not yet even come across lists of regions. The only thing I have found is isolated mentions in each town where so and so is "Capitan de Guerra" or "Alferez." I suppose it it possible some exist in the Archivo General de Indias or in the Archivo de Protocolos de Jalisco. The former is being digitalized, the latter not yet.
It would be a very useful find though!
