Hello to all!
It looks like "Grandma" got caught napping and Mickey beat me to the
draw~!!! I had a great announcement planned to send my "Ranchos Compadres
and Comadres" but with all the activity going on here I just had not had a
chance to do so! Yesssss, my little Emily was born on Monday (Swiss time)
at 7:36 am and weighs about 7 lbs 2 oz. I say "about" because they figure
things in grams, kilos, etc. around here.....not like we do in TEXAS!
YEA!...TEXAS has another little beauty!!! A Texas Rose....since she looks
like a little rosebud! :-) Is Grandma proud or what???? :-) :-)
Actually, I am so happy that words cannot explain it all! My daughter and
son-in-law surprised me when they said it would be a "home birth"......and,
after my initial shock......I accepted it. I had these visions of crying,
pain, etc. but it turned out to be one of the most beautiful experiences of
my life! My daughter did extremely well! Of course, the midwife was
prepared to take my daughter to the hospital if things did not go well.
Little Emily has been a wonderful baby and my little Leon (her five year old
brother) is just so happy she is here! Emily has already grasped his little
finger and that made him beam even more!
Today is Wednesday and my little Emily has experienced her first snowfall!
We were greated with snow this morning and it has been snowing for about
five hours now! Yesterday we had a beautiful sunny day! This reminds me of
Texas weather.....you never know what the next day brings!
I know I am way off the subject now.....but Grandmas have a tendency to do
that when it comes to our grandchildren! I am soooooo happy~! I now have a
new little leaf to add to my growing family tree! She was indeed a "special
delivery" and I cannot wait to show her the wonderful stock she comes from!
Hugs to all,
Josie in Switzerland

Maybe we should have a special welcome committee for all the Ranchos babies.
Yes I know they weren't born in one of our Ranchos, but their genes came out
from one of our Ranchos and nothing will ever change that.
Well I know there have been other Ranchos babies born this year and last
year and I would be happy for those of you who know who I'm talking about to
make your announcements public, but I'll not out of respect for your
privacy. I would just like to say CONGRATULATIONS to all of you and
especially to this newest one, Emily in Swisa, Switzerland (can I come for a
visit?).
Does anyone on the list practice the silver dollar tradition?????
My mom (hey don't dad's have traditions?), well anyway my mom would say that
when the child gets just a little older than new born you are suppose to
take a silver dollar and touch its hand with it. If the baby takes the
dollar then it is a sign of a life of prosperity if the baby doesn't it
means otherwise. Hmmm, I can see how this one might not be popular to
practice because I'm sure some of the babies don't grasp the dollar.
