The answer to your question below is "most likely yes". We originally developed the database on the old site to keep track of what films people had on indefinite loan at their local FHC so that other members might be able to ask them to look up something. We eventually decided to start adding batch numbers since these are very useful and now we have linked the batch numbers directly to the familysearch website to make lookups easier.
So basically, if someone has entered a film without a batch number they probably did so because they have the film on indefinite loan and one would expect that if it were indexed they would have entered the batch number along with their names but you never know....

Are the films that are listed under the "film," tab, without a batch number, does that denote that a batch is not available for that given film?
Pat
Arturo,
Thank you... I phoned the LDS Temple FHC in Oakland, CA. and asked if they had a reverse listing, batch numbers that were assigned to a given film number... the answer was 'no." But they (three different people) all agreed that all the batch numbers for a given film will appear on the actual film. The next I'm in our local FHC, I'll check to see if that's a factual statement.

not saying thats not true, but I've never seen it and now it makes me
wonder if I've been missing something on those pages that show the
volume Number. . .I've uploaded an example at: http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/14599 I've always wondered what the
various heading mean: for example what does: Numero de Emulsion and
Numero del Proyecto mean as far as can I use this information to find

Joseph,
I didn't see anything that looked like a reference to a batch number on the example that you posted. It's possible that batch numbers appear through the film, but I'm not sure. I'll be going to our local FHC on Tuesday to order film, and I'll ask them to run a film to see if through the film batch numbers are noted. It's resonable to think that more than one batch number would be used for a given film, with all the records found on one film. I maybe wrong.

I didn't realize that I was supposed to provide the batch numbers as well
for the films I have on indefinite loan at the local FHC where I live
(Rancho Cucamonga, California).
Can I insert them myself or should I send the list to someone. Each of the
films I have on loan does have a corresponding batch number. By the way
some films have two batch numbers; for example, a film of bautismos will
have one batch number for the females and another for the male children.
It's been a long time since we've exchanged e-mails. You were a "God sent," in helping me with my husband's maternal ancestry.
Now, I think you have answered the question about batch numbers, in that it's possible to have more than one batch number for a given film, with batch numbers being through out the film.
Today, I've come across only batch numbers for records in the IGI. No additional info, just a batch number.
Plus now I think the reason for not finding the Corbera/Corvera line is that it may have been indexed incorrectly as Correra, and other spelling variations. Just when one thinks they pretty much have "all the answers," in researching one's "roots," something new "pops," up.
Hope to meet with you at one of the Ranchos meetings, or on the "dream trip.".
Again, I sincerely appreciate all the help that you gave me when I was first starting out on this "Journey in Nochistlan." ;-).
Sincerely,
Pat Corbera

Hi Marge,
On my father-in-law's birth record/s (both church and civil) the spelling is Corvera. I read that the letter " v " is interchangeable with the letter " b, " in Mexican vital records, but I didn't think of a double "r," situation, as in Correra. As far as the records found on familysearch.org, I believe the spelling variations are being cause by LDS indexing, not being familiar with Mexican/Spanish surnames, plus the poor penmanship of priests. . The next best thing I need to do is to create a "spelling variation," listing, and then check it with LDS online records. Thank you Marge, I've added your suggestion to my surname variation list...
Pat.

I didn't realize that I was supposed to provide the batch numbers.........
Deena,
Not to worry about batch #'s, I inserted them when I attached my name to yours on the films we both have on permanent hold when I added additional film numbers. The films for Nochistlan without batch numbers are films after 1875 for Baptisms and after 1885 for marriages. I added them to the data base even though there is no benefit in terms of calling up the batch number but I use it to look up a film number for a particular town or area without having to go to family search.org and I kind of assumed that other people would do the same.
Joseph and Arturo, should I have omitted those films without batch numbers?
Dear Ranchos "family," please disregard my previous posting below about batch numbers.. I'm guilty of not completely reading what Arturo told me about films that members have on "indefinite loan." Pat

with or without batch numbers if you own (have on permanent hold) them
submit them. Later if you find "a" batch number associated with a film
and if its not already listed then by all means add it. In fact if you
find a batch number its a good idea to then change the last digit upward
and then downward to find other batch numbers.
see how the batches "sometimes" only changed by one digit at the end of
the batch number. So for example if you came across this one: C602866
you would have been able to find 8 other batch numbers simply by
changing the "6" at the end to 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and then to 7, 8, 9
please ask if that explanation didn't quite make sense I'd be glad to
explain further.
Also you have to try tossing in a J or K in substitution for the C as
they separate the Boy Children from the Girl Children at times.
Well this is the way I do it when I find a batch number for a new area
or one that I hadn't been able to find batch numbers before.
