I've just returned from walking the land of my grandparents with the surnames of Luna Herrera. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Of course, I was left with only tons more questions.
It is located within a very healthy walking distance from Cicacalco, but many of my own relatives (Lunas) came to settle from Tepechitlan.
Does anyone know about this "rancho"'s history? It is very large - and easily sustained hundreds upon hundreds of families back in the 1800's, but an exodus seemed to occur in the 1900's (my own grandparents came to escape the revolutionary war), but many more came to the U.S. for economic reasons.
Would love to learn how this incredible large parcel of land called "rancho aguajes" came to be....who were the original settlers, etc...

Do you have any San Martín y Estrada's or Estrada's in your family tree?
Rancho Los Aguajes, Zacatecas
Yes I do...goes way back to early 1800. Prudencio de Herrera married a Manuela Estrada. I think he might have married her sister later - whose name was Paulina. Manuela and Prudencio had a son Luis. I am a direct descendant of this line.
Los Aguajes
My Great Grandfather was Agustin Mota Herrera son of Vicente Mota and Francisca Herrera My grandfather was Vicente Mota Raigosa from Los Aguajes. My Maternal grandfather Asencion Luna Haro from coculiten All ranches above I believe where part of Colotlan Jalisco. I am related to the Trujillo’s from
cicacalco. The Luna family later moved Los Reales Zacatecas other family was from Los Lunas also Close by. I hope Iwas of some help .
Mota/Luna/Herrera surnames
I have a branch of the Mota surname that goes all the way back to thr late 1600's --Tomas Mota marries Josefa Luna. The line goes down to my great grandfather Atanacio Luna Trejo who marries Florencia Herrera Corchado. No doubt we are related.
I have found that most of my Luna lines come from Tepechitlan.
Facinating that all the lands were once connected to Cuculiten!
