Always be inquisitive when told, "No son los mismos." I heard this when I began researching my three Gutierrez lines in Jalostotitlan & San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco. I tied them all back to the same ancestor. My father told me the same thing when I began researching my Gomez line (same area), and kept running into others. I tied those in too. Now I'm researching my cousin's 2 Romo lines: one from Jalostotitlan (which I share as well) and the other which is suppose to be from San Luis Potosi--what a surprise, I'm researching his line to Encarnacion de Diaz, Jalisco which is a stone's throw from Jalostotitlan. We'll see...
I have found interesting facts by not giving up or taking others research as fact: documentation, documentation...

Gracias Irma,
That's exactly what I'm doing in my database. I'm documenting all the Olmos within the region and as I said in an earlier post, I've expanded to Teocaltiche and Villa Hidalgo Jalisco.
Nochistlan is right on the border with Jalisco and just recently I was provided with some family lore. They said that during the War of Los Cristeros, some of the family members fled to Paso de Sotos, which is now Villa Hidalgo because they were aiding the Church and they fled to avoid persecution from the Government factions.
The search continues.
