There are so many knowledgeable people on this site, I would like to know the best way to validate that the children who were baptized in San Juan are really the siblings of those baptized in San Diego de Alejandría.
Through IGI records, I found the following children of Juan Antonio De Anda, Gertrudis Padilla:
Jose Claro Anda Padilla
residence:Jalisco, Mexico
baptism/christening date:18 Aug 1822
baptism/christening place:
SAN JUAN DE LOS LAGOS,JALISCO,MEXICO
Jose Todosio Anda Padilla
residence:Jalisco, Mexico
baptism/christening date:06 Jun 1824
baptism/christening place:
SAN JUAN DE LOS LAGOS,JALISCO,MEXICO
José Luis De Jesus De Anda
birth:Mentidero residence: San Diego de Alejandría, Jalisco, Mexico
baptism/christening date:27 Aug 1826
baptism/christening place:
La Inmaculada Concepción, San Diego de Alejandría, Jalisco, Mexico
Nicolas De Guadalupe De Anda
birth: Mentidero
residence:San Diego de Alejandría, Jalisco, Mexico
baptism/christening date:16 Dec 1828
baptism/christening place:
La Inmaculada Concepción, San Diego de Alejandría, Jalisco, Mexico
Ma. De La Crus Anda Padilla
residence:Jalisco, Mexico
baptism/christening date:11 May 1831
baptism/christening place:
SAN JUAN DE LOS LAGOS,JALISCO,MEXICO
What are the chances of two Juan Antonio De Anda being married to two Gertrudis Padilla? I know the San Juande los Lagos and San Diego de Alejandría are very close to each other but why would a family not go to the same church for all of their children?

Randy,
I've encountered similar situations where siblings are baptized -or appear to have been baptized- in different neighboring localities. Some of the explanations are as follows: 1) The parish kept the records, and the name of the church where the children were actually baptized was recorded at margin. Often that information was not entered into LDS record, and only the name of the parish appears. Upon inspection of the actual image, the actual location of ceremony (baptism, marriage, etc.) can be verified. 2) Priest absence at a church (for multiple reasons). Accordingly, ceremonies had to be conducted temporarily in the neighboring town. Upon examination of the church books you would sometimes reference of such temporary absence and transfer of records. 3) People would choose to christen their children at different churches, for multiple reasons, including respective family ties of the father or the mother to the town where their corresponding families resided. Clues to this c
ome from records of relatives, or where the respective parents were born. 4) Individuals would move because of employment. I have records of relatives moving from one town to another, and then back to the original town. People look for oportunities today, and they would do the same in the past.
Check the original records (images) for clues. Often the names of the god parents are the same regardless of different localites. Also look for other records, including the marriage of the putative siblings in question. Multiple pieces of information can confirm that these are indeed are siblings.

It is within the realm of possiblities. While I am no expert, here are my
thoughts: Hopefully, someone already has these individuals in their family
tree and already have information, or have ready access to it, Are both
parents from San Juan de Los Lagos? Perhaps one is from San Diego de
Alejandria, or you might be able to locate siblings of theirs there, to
strengthen your hunch. Have you checked whether their is a Juan Antonio De
Anda and a Gerturdis Padilla marriage in San Diego?. But it is best to look
at the films to see what else you can learn. They may indicate grandparents,
where the parents are from, or have padrinos that are the same or ones you
know are siblings of the parents. I don't know when the Jalisco films will
be available online, but hopefully, soon!

I have this couple, it appears I did not have the kids from San Diego de Alejandria.
Based on what information you provided I'm sure they are the same family. I
would understand to take extreme precaution if were dealing with very long distance
travel but if its Los Altos especially the northern region its very probable. Especially
since San Diego de Alejandria is down the road. This family is DE ANDA ALTAMIRANO.
Juan Antonio de Anda Altamirano and Gertrudis Padilla (probably Padilla Davila) married
in San Juan de los Lagos 30 dec 1821.) I have not done much work on this line but if you
should consider ordering the baptismal and marriage film for these and study it a bit more.
Then we would be able to hopefully extend this line of the ANDA ALTAMIRANO and Padilla
further back. I have dealt mostly with 1500s-1700s. Here and there the 1800s for these
famiies. If you do order the marriage record if you would be kind and share it I would be most
grateful. I hope this helps a bit.

Juan Antonio de Anda and Gertrudis Padilla are my third great grandparents through their son Jose Todosio Anda Padilla. You have the same marriage record as I have and I will order it and the baptism records. If you provide me with you email, I will send you a copy.
My Spanish is about as good as a four year olds so it takes me awhile to translate the films.
Another suggestion
If the marriage record does not give much detail, the matrimonial investigation may fill in the gaps.
After 1800, most baptismal records name the grandparents, especially if the record is completely handwritten. If the record is a fill-in-the-blanks form, then it might not.

Thank you
I located the igi information on the marriage of Juan Antonio De
Anda and a Gerturdis Padilla and will order the film to see where they are from.
Thanks
