Hi, Everyone:
I seem to be having trouble posting messages. They keep getting returned as
Undeliverable, but I will keep trying.
Anyways, I read some of the old messages and found another that is very
informative. I have been putting together a family cookbook in order to
preserve traditional recipes. Thanks be to God, my mom had her mother's
capirotada recipe and I was blown away by the ingredients, tomatos, cheese
and such. Now, since I've read that these are some of the ingredients used
for a lenten dish, I am not so dismayed. My mother said that her mother
made it for Lent and it was a family favorite handed down. My grandmother
was called "La Tapatia" and my mother, since she was born in Guadalajara,
was also called that by her aunts, which made her feel very special.

Joseph, The best gourmet capirotada I have ever enjoyed was prepared with such precision and talent, and the creation of Alicia Carrillo's husband, Juan. Now, you, and Figen have a reason for a California visit.

As for the capirotada Tell Juan it's a date. . .wait did you clear this
with Juan first? Is it okay Alicia? Ask Juan if he can make me some and
I'll think about getting a plane ticket. . .of course I would think a
lot harder if someone was making Menudo also (Does Capiotada and Menudo
go together????)

Zacatecas" And since it was my Grandmother that probably greatly
influcenced my mother in how she was to care for her son, My Dad, and
since she was born in Las Animas, Jalisco to a mom, my g-Grandmother
Antonia Santa Maria, that was born in 1862 in Salitrillo, Tepetongo,
Zacatecas and who probably taught my Grandmother how to make Capiotada

Hi Joseph!
I tried to get the recipe for Capirotada Zacatecas Style but the print is
very small and cannot be read......I tried enlarging the print but it was
blurred.....I would really like a copy of this recipe!
