To Jose Luis Macias,

The person you are seeking could be this one listed in the SSDI:

      H. Duff

        SSN:
449-03-0559

        Last Residence:  78733
Austin, Travis, Texas

        Born:  23 August
1903

        Died:  Jul 1984

        State (Year) SSN
Issued:  Texas (Before 1951)

I think your best bet is to try and get the death certificate
from:

       Bureau of Vital Statistics

        Texas Department of
Health

        1100 West 49th Street

        Austin, TX 78756-3191

        Telephone:
512-458-7111

You could also try the County Courthouse in Travis County, and the Austin
Public Library for a death record or a death notice for July 1984.

The law in Texas states that only certain approved relatives may have access to a complete death certificate.  The full death certificate is only available to others who are not on the list after 25 years have passed after the death of the person.  I have many relatives from Texas where the state will confirm their date of death, but I have to wait to actually receive a full death certificate.

Well, Jose, maybe we can find out where he is buried, if the cemetery he is
in has an index of burials or death notices in some library or genealogical
society.  Also, since he died in 1984, it has only been 22 years since his
death, so you have to wait until after July of 2009 to get the full death
certificate. Thanks for the info, Rosalinda.  I have lots of people in
collateral lines to look up in Texas also.
