Help finding lost dispensa

By Don Animas | 4:23 PM MST, Mon March 25, 2024

There is a dispensa that I misplaced notes or more likely didn't take notes on it. It lists two brothers: one Bernardino de Isla and the other Bernardino de Sandoval. From what i recall, the visual writing makes it liking between 1700 and 1750, and the relationship was in the narrative form within a paragraph (not separate from paragraph and listed line by line) and likely on the first page. The location was likely either Nochistlan, Teocaltiche, Tepatitlan, or Jalostotitlan.

I have tried searching the dispensas again, but have not found it, which makes me think it might be from a marriage information or from some other location.

Sorry I cannot help. I…

Sorry I cannot help. I usually input all dispensas on my tree and I am interested in those surnames so I would have done it if I had found it. I didn't find those brothers on my tree.

Any more info? The dispensa…

Any more info? The dispensa specifically said both Bernadino's were brothers?

I am pretty certain that it…

I am pretty certain that it said they were brothers.

I do not descend from whoever the marrying couple was nor descend from the people up the line through the Bernardinos, so I didn't pay much attention to the dispensa other then notice that it had two brothers having the same name (uncommon, but not unheard of during that time and prior).

The Two Bernardinos

Are the two Bernardinos in the original post the same two that were baptized together on 6 July 1648 in Nochistlán? The baptismal record states that one was the son of Nicolás de Sandoval and Magdalena González. The other Bernardino was an hijo de la iglesia whose compadres [padrinos?] were Nicolás de Sandoval and Magdalena González! I have wondered if the second one was also a son of Nicolás de Sandoval. They are all listed together on the 1649 padrón for Nochistlán.

I have thought the same…

I have thought the same thing. After i bought The Altos de Jalisco: Padrones book and saw that the Bernardino de Isla and Mariana de Sandoval household had 3 other Bernardinos, I immediately thought about the dispensa that i had seen earlier.
