Da Maria de Olibarri the wife of Dn Pedro de Abalos Bracamonte 1666

Por Rose Hardy | 8:51 PM MST, Lun Abril 11, 2011

Hello Group,

Sorry I've been out of touch with the group, but I've been researching elsewhere in Mexico this past year. As of late I have been doing research in Nayarit working on my Rios Californio line. For the past few weeks I've been reading Tepic burials and in the past week Compostela burials.

Tonight I found Da Maria de Olibarri, the wife of Dn Pedro de Abalos (Davalos) Bracamonte. The document can be found on image 10 Compostela, Nayarit Entierros 1663-1797. This family is from Guadalajara from what I can tell from the other information I've found. The document lists their 7 children, Alo (Alfonso I believe), Francisca, Nicolas, Pedro, Leonor, Diego and Madgalena. Maria was buried in 1666.

While searching Tepic and Compostela burials I'm coming across a lot of people from Guadalajara, a few from Aguascalientes, Nochitlan, and a few from Jalos. Just giving you all a heads up.

Hope this helps....

Da Maria de Olibarri the wife of Dn Pedro de Abalos Bracamonte 1

Hi Rose:

Thanks for sharing the document you found what a source! I have seen her as Ulibarri or Olibarri de la Cueva.
Their oldest son Alonso was baptized 22 January 1645 in Compostela who would become the I Conde de Miravalle
and a Caballero de Santiago.

Maria's husband Pedro de Avalos y Bracamonte was baptized in Guadalajara 15 May 1615.

I was once told that since Compostela was the capital of Nueva Galicia many people all over
would go there so this might explain why so many people from all over are found in Compostela.
This could be where pre 1600 Aguascalientes baptisms may exist or Guadalajara. Maybe marriages
too.

Thanks again for sharing,

Daniel Méndez Camino

Glad I was happy to share some "good stuff". I have a Bracamonte line in Tepic and have a feeling I will evenually be able to piece this Bracamonte family together to my line.

Another great source of the Guadalajara Bracamonte's is from Guillermo Garmendia Leal's book "Fundadores de Nueva Galicia, Guadalajara Tomo I."

Thanks Rose,

I guess we should all provide this type of information. While most of my
research is focused on Nochistlan, quite often some of the records are for
people from Juchipila, Jalpa, Yahualica, Mexticacan, Teocaltiche and
Aguascalientes and it would also be helpful to provide the time span and the
film #.

Frontier Province of Colotlan, Jalisco

I also forgot to mention the film I was looking at with the majority of people from Guadlalajara is Tepic, Nayarit burials 1747-1807. I have no film numbers to provide, as all my research is now done at familysearch.org and am looking at the digitized documents online.

I forgot to mention I was seeing people from Colotlan also. Since my research is new in Nayarit, from what I gather it was the frontier province of Colotlan, Jalisco.

Hope this info helps my Nueva Galicia cousins.

Da Maria de Olibarri the

Does anyone know how/if Pedro de Avalos Bracamonte might be related to Domingo Ortiz Bracamonte, who was married to Antonia (Flores de) Aréchiga? They are my 8th gg-grandparents and all I know is that they were from Cocula de Avalos and ended up in Mexticacan.

Any leads would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Da Maria de Olibarri the

Hi Claudia:

The earliest Ortiz de Bracamontes in my archives is the following:

Domingo Ortiz de Bracamonte married Antonia Ines Camacho who married 29
december 1686 in Guadalajara. I have her as daughter of Diego Flores de Arechiga
and Catalina Bravo Camacho who looks like she may have ties to Mexico City around
the same time period where lots of Bravo-Camacho pop out.

I would order the record I think I got this from a dispensa lots of Flores de Arechiga
appear in the book Sagrada Mitra de Guadalajara.

Hope this bit helps some way.

Ortiz de Bracamonte

Daniel, thanks so much for the lead on Domingo Ortiz de Bracamonte from Guadalajara...he seems to be my ancestor, as I've just searched and found that they had three children baptized in Cocula...and my line is included.

I really appreciate your input and the kernels of clues that you share with this group. Much appreciated on my behalf.

Saludos,
-Claudia

Domingo Ortiz Bracamonte and Joseph Ortis de Bracamonte

Can anyone report whether—or what—is the connection between Domingo Ortiz Bracamonte who married Antonia Flores de Aréchiga, two of whose daughters married in San Felipe, Cuquio (Gerónima in 1715, Antonia Juliana in 1716) and Joseph Ortis de Bracamonte, married to Anna Basques, whose daughter, Andrea de Guadalupe, was born in San Felipe in 1714? One would assume, and start looking for, a connection as obvious as this one.

Domingo Ortiz Bracamonte and Antonia Flores de Aréchiga

My wife descends from Domingo Ortiz Bracamonte and Antonia Flores de Aréchiga. Antonia’s mother descends from Luisa Ulloa Mendoza and Diego Zuñiga. Here is where I hit a couple of brick walls.

1) Domingo Hortis de Bracamonte
2) Diego Zuñiga ( have seen two different sets of parents in secondary sources)
3) Tomas Flores de Arechiga

My wife descends from the marriage of Diego Doming) Ortiz Bracamonte and Barbara Infante. They are third cousins as they both descend from Sebastian Vasquez De Lara and Luisa Villaseñor.

Does anyone have information on Sebastian Vasquez De Lara and Luisa Villaseñor?

Luisa Ulloa Mendoza’s parents are Gonzalo Nuñez de Sotomayor and Bernardina Mendoza (Pantoja)
Thanks,
Rick A. Ricci
